Suzanne Crowther
March 14, 1938 - April 16, 2020
Suzanne died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family of cancer at the age of 82 on 16 April 2020. She married Ted J Crowther in 1958 and they had 62 years of a wonderful life together. Suzanne is survived by 6 children, 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. The surviving children are: Mark J Crowther of Lindon, Ut; Sharon Wilson, of Ephraim, Ut; David T Crowther of Reno, NV; Robyn Upshaw of Orem, UT; Autumn Christensen of Provo, Ut; and Randy Crowther of Orem, Ut. Suzanne was born on 14 Mar 1938 in Washington D.C. to parents, Jessco Cowley Nixon and Mildred Jones Nixon, who were descendants of Mormon pioneers. She grew up in Arlington, Va. She learned to play the piano and the pipe organ from age 12. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition in 1960. She and Ted moved to the San Francisco bay area after graduating from BYU where they lived for 17 years raising their family. They moved to Provo, Ut in 1978 to the Indian Hills neighborhood where they lived until her passing. Suzanne and Ted’s children are very accomplished and include a computer programmer, University Professors, accountant, university event planner, policeman & fireman, a diversified family. Suzanne served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an organist. She faithfully worked in the Primary, Young Women, Relief Society and ward and stake Sunday School organizations. She particularly loved working with the youth as Young Women Camp Director where she was known to get involved with the young girls as if she were a young girl even at the age 79. She served as the ward and stake nursery leader for 8 years at which time Ted wondered if she would ever graduate from nursery. She was known throughout the ward as one of the best cooks, always teaching in the humblest way, event planning, and as friend to everyone in the ward. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember her for making flower dolls, having tea parties, reading stories, carving pumpkins, decorating gingerbread houses, making jam, and gardening. They all enjoyed her pink roses and hollyhocks calling her the flower lady. Her family was the center of her life and she devoted most of her time to keeping the family together by hosting family get-to-gathers, sewing for her newborn great-grandchildren, shopping for birthday books to present to each great-grandchild every year. She will be remembered as a talented musician, a high-class lady and yet always down to earth and full of love. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best of all a true friend.
