Thomas Jefferson Montgomery

March 4, 1938 - September 5, 2021

Thomas Jefferson Montgomery passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 5, 2021 at his home in Eagle Mountain, Utah after a decade long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Tom was born on March 4, 1938 in Pioche, Nevada to Mary Anne Lunt Montgomery and Fountain Jay Montgomery, and came just minutes behind his twin sister Anne. Tom had many wild adventures playing in the hills around his home with his friends, some of which he still had contact with later in life. After graduating high school, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and served faithfully for two years, spending much of his time stationed in Germany. While there, he met and married Ilsa, with whom he later had two daughters, Bridgette and Sophia. They were later divorced, with Ilsa and the girls returning to Germany. In 1975 Tom moved to Utah where he met Lillian Archuleta, they were married in American Fork, Utah in 1975. They raised three daughters together, Jenny Lynn, Lori Anne and Nicole. The family was sealed together for time and all eternity in the Provo temple in 1983. Tom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. Tom learned deer hunting as a young man and continued to enjoy it throughout his adult life. He also enjoyed baseball, basketball and bowling, but the love of his sporting life was golf. Here he made lifelong friendships. He was easily recognized for his whistling. He entertained many with his talent and was given the nickname “The Whistler.” He is survived by his wife, Lillian; daughters, Jenny (Jonathan) Naylor, Lori Montgomery and Nicole Montgomery; his sister, Carmen Wise; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 13th, at 11:30 am, at the Liberty Farms Ward Chapel located at 4105 E. Smith Ranch Road, Eagle Mountain, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Interment with Military Honors in Utah Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery, 17111 S Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
